Top 12 Most Frequently Asked Questions About Boudoir Photography

Hello Gorgeous!

When I begin talking with a woman about an empowering boudoir session, questions are always there. Lots of them. And rightfully so! It is not often that we put ourselves first, much less in a vulnerable way. So, without further rambling on my part (which I am known to do!), let’s answer those questions. After all is said and done, why don’t we talk about YOUR session and investing in YOU by way of your very own empowering boudoir session.

I am ready! Let's Talk.

Everyday beautiful to boudoir slay!

When do I get to see my photos?

The very same day! That’s right, you don’t have to wait. Once we wrap up your session, I send you off to relax, maybe get some lunch or a massage (ahhhh…), and return about 60-90 minutes later. We get to ooh, ahh, and gasp over how much you rocked your session at your gallery reveal. As we go through, you choose your favorites, the ones that speak volumes to you, and those that just stop you right there. At this moment, we select and begin to create artwork of YOU. If you chose a collection with your digital images, you will get to download those that week! Your products, albums, metal wall art, etc, will be ready for you in approximately 4 weeks. (But let me know when you book your session, if you have a ‘deadline’ and we will work together to make everything line up.

Do you share my images?

I value my clients’ trust, because that is where it all begins, right? I only post photos for which you have granted me permission, in writing. And there are varying degrees of what is shared, which we can go over. Some women are excited to share all, while others are only ok with images being shared either in my private Facebook group, or in my studio, or maybe images that are more anonymous in nature. Other women do not share at all, and that is 100% ok! All photos on our site have been posted with the permission of my clients, many because they felt so amazing, that they want to share with other women to be able to feel the same.

How do I choose what to wear for my session? Do I have to wear lingerie?

Nope! Whether you rock your favorite concert t-shirt, your best Chucks or Cowgirl boots, just the sheets, or nothing at all, go with your instincts on what makes YOU feel good when you put it on. Your style is totally unique and different from anyone else, so above all else, stay true to you and rest assured that I’ll be there to help you look your best.

Keep in mind that I have a massive client closet for you! Current sizes range XS through 4XL, and I am adding new pieces every week for you!

Prior to your session, we will talk on the phone and via email and text. During that time, we will brainstorm ideas for your session, and I will send you lots of ideas and inspiration to get you ready! You can always join my VIP Group to see more session images, behind the scenes videos at sessions, and ask the group for ideas!

As you can see, the top that these women are wearing is a client closet favorite!

What are some great stores to shop? How many outfits should I bring?

Before your session, you will receive a guide that gives you tips on what to bring, and how to prepare for your session. I recommend bringing anywhere from 3-5 outfits and I’ll help you pair it down to 2-3 outfits. Some women have rocked a whole session with one outfit, or nothing at all! In my client closet I have a so many options, sizes XS through 4XL and adding new pieces weekly- it is so fun to shop for YOU.

What about hair and makeup?

Your session begins with pampering from an amazing hair and make-up artist (but you will have connected with her prior to your session to discuss a look for YOU); this experience is to enhance your unique beauty, and the look you want, whether it be soft and a bit on the natural side, or all out glam! This is the perfect way to begin what will be a luxurious and invigorating, amzing experience. This usually takes 1 to 1.5 hours, and then we begin your custom session!

Can I bring my partner?

This experience is totally geared towards you, and celebrating what makes YOU amazing! I work diligently to create a space for you to shine, and not be held back by worry of judgement of living up to anyone’s expectations of you. The studio is a place to play, explore and go outside your comfort zone without fear of failure or thinking of what someone in your life may say.

You might even surprise yourself and learn a new side of you! In order to allow any walls to come down, I remove any distractions and the only people in the studio after hair and make-up is complete will be you and I. That said, there are instances where a client will feel like she needs the support, and that is totally fine, we just talk about it in advance. I do ask that I get to chat with the support person about their role for the session and what it will be like, so that it continues to be empowering and positive.

What about couples’ sessions?

Absolutely. If you are looking to celebrate your love together, let’s talk about creating a session that will showcase your love.

Do you Photoshop my images?

I will never alter the shape of your body. Ever. My simple rule is this: if it was not there two weeks ago, I will edit it out of your boudoir images. I will create minor, artful, considerate edits to your images, such as removing a blemish, very lightly smooth your skin, remove a stray hair, a chipped nail etc. But I am all about this still being authentically YOU. I want you to see you the way that I see you, the way people around you see you: GORGEOUS. Not the stressed, tired, hard on yourself person you see all too often. But the fantastic way we all see you.

What type of print and art products do you have?

I have a range of beautiful, custom fine art for you: from albums (they are dreamy) to stunning metal wall art (my favorite these days) to single matted prints in a custom box to multi-piece wall art collections for your very own fine art gallery. Not sure what to do with your products? Ask! I have all kinds of ideas for you, no matter where you live or who lives with you.

Do you offer digital images?

Absolutely. Most of my session collections come with your entire digital image gallery! That way, you get to enjoy the beautiful printed artwork, in your hands and on your walls (or in your nightstand drawer…), but you also have every single image from your session to look back on and to share, or not share, as you like!

Can I make payments?

Yes, I am a firm believer in making sure that my clients get to have the full luxury experience, and to have exactly what they love, so I do offer pre-payment plans, where you can make several payments leading up to your session, or you may pay it all the week before your session, while others pay everything up front, giving them the most flexibility on getting to schedule their session whenever they are ready. You are also welcome to use PayPal credit as an option. Many clients use a mix of possibilities to get the most out of their session.

I am pretty nervous, even though I am excited…

First: BREATHE. Easier said than done, right? No one likes being told to breathe or be calm. But, it is true. A few slow, deep breaths helps us all. That, and talking to me a few times leading up to your session, along with looking through my website and social media, to remind yourself of the large number of women who have gone before you and not only survived, but absolutely ROCKED their experience, as will you. That being said, this is also why we start every session with pampering you with hair and makeup, along with light snacks and beverages and some great music, all to get you ready. You WILL rock your session. I promise.

What time should I arrive?

Do not worry, I allow for plenty of time in scheduling, so there is no need to arrive early, unless you want arrive 5 to 10 minutes early to calm yourself from your commute! I do ask that you plan for traffic, because we all know how unpredictable it can be, and I do not want you stressing over it. When you arrive, you and I will start with a wardrobe consultation to style the set before you begin your pampering with hair and make-up. I will already have some pieces from my client closet set out for you to look through, based on our conversations before the day of. And of course, you get to look through the closet as well!

Where is your studio located?

This is a two, or maybe three part answer! My primary studio is located in a beautiful area of Moreno Valley, CA, overlooking the city and away from everything (or so it seems, I am super easy to get to!). However, I offer sessions regularly in Western Washington state, and most of those sessions are in a studio in Snohomish County. Lastly, outdoor sessions are offered year round in California, and weather permitting in WA state. One last bit of information on session locations: I travel! I have done sessions in WA, CA, Florida, Louisiana, Alabama…just ask!
